Integrated Baggage Services

Ultra has delivered a number of new services around baggage messaging, realizing Heathrow’s goal of operating as one integrated baggage operation.

 

The message services allow bags to transit through all 5 terminals in a tracked and coordinated manner and enable automatic handling (robots) to be deployed, saving millions of pounds every year in reduced operational costs.

 

Ultra has recently been working with the airport owner, Heathrow Airport Limited to integrate UltraTRAK into their Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), UltraIB, as part of their HIBS (Heathrow Integrated Baggage Services) project. As well as delivery of flight and bag messages, this interface will support ULD messaging in order to closely integrate BRS with new handling technologies being implemented into Heathrow to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
